Cairnory helps hunters in Ireland record hunts, animal records and field conditions in one private journal. A working beta today, with a broader wildlife-data purpose guiding its development.

01 / The app
Built around your
time in the field.
Start a day or night hunt, keep your records together, and return to the details later.
Useful animal records.
Record species, event time, sex and whether an animal was recovered or shot and not recovered. Add optional distance, relevant measurements, notes and up to three private photographs.
Optional field context.
Save an animal’s location using GPS or manual coordinates, with accuracy shown where available. Optional modelled weather gives an estimate near hunt start, rather than continuous readings.
Records you can revisit.
Filter completed hunts, correct details and remove records. Your private Trophy Room offers another way to revisit your records, all from your mobile browser.

Recording during a hunt reduces the need to reconstruct details later. Cairnory is being developed towards future club, research and conservation reporting, with the hunter’s own journal at the centre.

Where we are heading
Development directionWildlife observations
Record species, approximate numbers seen, time and optional location, habitat, notes and photographs — including wildlife that was not harvested.
Structured reporting
Explore summaries of hunts, effort and animal records for discussions with clubs and researchers. Organisational reporting is not available today.
Trap checks
A separate workflow for checks, time spent and captured species, potentially supporting invasive-species control. An exploratory concept, with no committed launch.
03 / Privacy
Your journal.
Your locations.
Hunt records, photographs and saved animal locations sit within your private account. They are not automatically published or shared with clubs or wildlife organisations. Adding an animal location is optional.
Weather is optional. An approximate location is sent to the weather provider for an estimate; Cairnory does not save that query point with the weather record. This is separate from any saved animal location.
How optional Home weather refreshes
After you enable Home weather, it can refresh on later visits if browser location permission is already granted. Home weather is separate from a hunt’s saved weather snapshot.
Any future organisational sharing would need clear choices about what is shared and at what level of location detail.
